Calling All Future Voters! is a picture book that explores the history of voting rights and highlights our country's ongoing struggle for a more inclusive democracy. Blending narrative and educational content, this book is a call to action encouraging readers (young and old) to understand their rights and responsibilities in a democracy.
I also co-wrote the first two books in the Fighting for Justice series — biographies of people who have fought for civil rights in California history. Stan Yogi and I wrote Fred Korematsu Speaks Up , winner of several awards including the Carter G. Woodson Award and the Jane Addams Honor Award. Stan and I have spoken to over 8,000 students at over 50 schools. We are happy to come to your school to present. Check out the Fighting for Justice series website to learn more.
I co-wrote Biddy Mason Speaks Up with poet Arisa White, which won a Nautilus and Independent Publisher Book Award. I also wrote the light-hearted picture book, Sled Dog Dachshund.

“Laura is a big reason why I went from clueless first-time writer to one with a multiple award-winning, bestselling debut book that’s now being translated into several languages and has a screen adaptation development deal in place. I can’t recommend her enough. She was the creative writing course I never got to take as a student.” – Dary

“Laura was instrumental in helping me take a ten-year-old manuscript that I was stuck on and turn it into a polished story that I could pitch. If it weren’t for her patience and valuable advice the story would still be sitting in a drawer. You need Laura on your team!” – Rob Trujillo, Fresh Juice
